In his Aḥsan al-taqāsīm fi maʿrifat al-aqālīm, al-Muqaddasi (d. 991) mentions that a type of cloth woven from wool and ibrīsam (i.e. silk) known as al-khaz was used in the manufacture of a special type of robe known as al-tarāʾif. See also: Weaver; Silk Worker; Wool Worker.
