Basra: Knife Makers
In his Aḥsan al-taqāsīm fi maʿrifat al-aqālīm, al-Muqaddasi (d. 991) notes that knives are made from al-rāsikhit, a copper alloy produced in Basra. Al-Rāsikhit was also used to manufacture needles. See also: Founder; Copper Beater; Knife Maker.
