Baghdad: Carpet Makers

In his al-Risāla al-Baghdādiyya, al-Tawhidi (d. 1023) indicates that he saw al-dist carpet makers. Al-dist refers to the higher place of the house, which were covered with carpets woven with Iraqi gold threads. See also: Weaver; Embroiderer; Robe Maker.
