Amara: Boat Builders

Yuhanna Nashmi describes and photographs the work of a Mandaean boat builder called Basheer, who operates a workshop on the banks of the Tigris in Amara city. He learned his craft from his father who used to live in the marshlands of Gebaish. Basheer had adapted the techniques, substituting wood with recycled white goods.
